3D printing with Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) technology enables the fabrication of industrial-strength parts without any tooling or setup costs, saving time and expense. The production-grade nylon PA12 used by MJF offers unprecedented mechanical strength for functional prototypes along with an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and high-quality surface finish.
Its fully dense and nearly isometric mechanical properties ensure strength and durability on every axis. Nylon PA12 has high chemical and heat resistance. The printed model, of material Nylon PA12, has:
- Dimensionally accuracy of ± 0.3% (with lower limit on ± 0.2mm)
- Minimum wall thickness of 0.6mm
- Minimum detail of 0.25mm
- Certified for biocompatibility and medical applications (USP Class I-VI and FDA’s Intact Skin Surface Devices guidance) and REACH, RoHS and PAHs compliant for chemical safety.
3D print Nylon PA12 functional parts and fixtures, that are currently CNC machined, can find many applications as replacements for metal parts:
- Tough, lighter and cheaper than aluminum.
- Offer better air flow due to a smooth surface, by comparing with rough casted metal parts.
- Self-lubricating properties of nylon make it useful for gears and bearings.
- Electrical insulation, corrosion resistance and toughness make nylon a good choice for high load parts in electrical applications as insulators, switch housings, power tool housing, etc.
- Intricate shapes with precision and durability, which is difficult to be manufactured by traditional machining methods, can be realized.
- Organic light-weight form can be produced by using lattice structure which is optimized topologically.
