Background

The second generation Robocop joined the Crime Prevention Bureau (CPB) of Hong Kong Police Force in 1995. It was manufactured by 21st Century Robotics Company in Georgia in the USA. The CPB prefers the Robocop of the third generation should adopt the latest technology and locally made.

Objective

It is responsible for the promotion and education of the importance of crime prevention among primary students and members of the public during school visits and carnivals respectively.

Technology

The body design of the third generation Robocop is based on the winner of the JPC-Robocop Design Competition. It is 1.6m tall. Its upper torso is retractable so that it can be accommodated in mini-van at only 1.25m tall. The width is 1m and the total weight is 165kg including the battery. It is easy to maneuver and has more degree of freedom on head and arm motion. Its aluminum body makes it strong and durable. An LCD monitor for display will be mounted in front of the upper torso and a camera installed inside the head is responsible for image capture. The motion and AV operation is implemented by wireless remote control.
